What are the differences between the ipod touch 3rd generation and the 2nd generation?
Posted on 25. Nov, 2009 by admin in Ipod Touch
I have just had my 16th birthday and am thinking of buying the 32gb ipod touch 3rd generation tomorrow when i go shopping. I was just wondering what the differences are between this one and the old one. Any other info about ipod touch’s in general would be good to (good/bad etc..)
Thanks

2nd and 3rd generation iPod touches look exactly the same, and have the exact same software.
The difference is in the hardware:
As compared to the 2nd generation, the 3rd gen has:
2x runtime memory (RAM), it allows you to have more applications and what-not running at the same time, and your apps will crash a lot less.
Storage- the 2nd gen comes in 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB capacities… the 3rd gen ONLY COMES IN 32GB, and 64GB.. buyer beware, apple is still selling 8GB iPod touches, THEY ARE NOT 3rd gen, they are all the same hardware, as the second ge, they are a second ge, just with a lowered price
CPU- the CPU on the 3rd gen is about 45% faster, which allows you to open apps, and switch between them more quickly, apps load faster, and the device will boot much quicker.
GPU- the graphics processor on the 3rd gen is has a 60% higher clock speed… this is very beneficial for playing games, you can play more intense, higher resolution games, at a nice frame-rate.

The third generation gets you more storage space at a lower price.
The third generation is also faster, has better graphics, and has Voice Control.
